This course teaches students how the software industry works, how commercial open source startups are created, and how to spin-off such a company from a university. It consists of four main components:

• The software industry

• Commercial open source

• Open source projects

• University spin-offs

Class is run as two 90min blocks, one for the lecture, and one for the joint exercise.
